So the Athlete of the Month for the month of March is Sean Riley. Read his story and you will understand why we picked him. The picture on the left is from September 2016, just 6 months ago. The picture on the right is from 17.3 this March. We couldn’t be more proud of YOUR hard work Sean, keep it up!
I have been a member of Power Pack since October 2016. I am 26 and I live in Leonardo with my wife and 15 month old son. I am currently a student at Manhattan College. I graduated from Holmdel high school in 2008, I played one season of football at Fairleigh Dickinson University before I left school to join the United States Marine Corps. I served as an infantry machine gunner, going on 2 combat deployments to Afghanistan, and 1 training deployment to Okinawa, The Philippines and South Korea.
When I got out of the Marines, my then pregnant wife and I moved back to New Jersey, then our son was born. Over the next 10 months I didn’t take care of myself at all, and it showed. When we moved to Leonardo in October 2016 I drove past Power Pack one day, and made the decision to change my lifestyle. After the 1st class I went to, I remembered how much I loved training and I was hooked. I realized that from ages 14-24 I was always training for something. Whether it was football, or the Marine Corps, I always had something I was working towards. When I ended my active service, I lost that. Power Pack and Crossfit in general gave me something new, and seemingly never ending to train for. Every day I get a new challenge, and completing that challenge helps me prepare for the next days challenge, and so on. That combined with the coaches, and members who help make Power Pack a special place, have really renewed my passion for training. My time at the gym has become so important to me, and something I look forward to every day.
